Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pete Sproles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Also Zarathustra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sproles comes to the cage accompanied by can't be touched -Roy Jones Jr. Zarathustra has chosen Red Birds Will Fly Out Of The East And Destroy Paris In A Night as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Pete Sproles!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Also Zarathustra!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sproles instigates a clinch.
Sproles lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Also Zarathustra has been cut.
Sproles prevents a body shot from Zarathustra.
Sproles presses Zarathustra against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Sproles misses with a punch to the body.

Zarathustra misses with a hook from the clinch.
Zarathustra working some nice short punches in the clinch.

That has opened up Also Zarathustra's cut even more.

Zarathustra breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sproles forces Zarathustra back against the cage and clinches.

Sproles tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sproles throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Zarathustra blocks it with crossed arms.
Zarathustra tries to work over Sproles's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Zarathustra scores with a shot to the side of Sproles's head.
Sproles lands a nice uppercut.
Zarathustra dodges an elbow strike from Sproles.
Sproles looking to slow down the pace here.
Zarathustra can't find room to land a body shot as Sproles controls the action.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Sproles.
Zarathustra prevents a body shot from Sproles.
Sproles throws a head punch that misses.
Sproles working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
The referee is keeping an eye on Zarathustra - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Zarathustra tries to work over Sproles's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Zarathustra is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Sproles to keep the fight standing.

Zarathustra tries to throw a body punch but Sproles avoids it by throwing Zarathustra back against the cage.
Zarathustra takes a knee right on the jaw!


The cut above Also Zarathustra's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Zarathustra works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Zarathustra is fighting to break Sproles's control of his arms but Sproles is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Zarathustra accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zarathustra being controlled here momentarily.
Sproles looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pete Sproles wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Zarathustra circles away from the clinch attempt
and Zarathustra cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Sproles's corner calls for a 1-2. Sproles obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Zarathustra tries to bum rush Sproles with a series of wild strikes but Sproles uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Zarathustra dodges the punch combination from Sproles.
Sproles loads up on a big right hand but Zarathustra slips the punch.
Sproles misses with a hook.
Sproles is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Zarathustra.
Sproles throws a poor cross that misses
and Zarathustra counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Pete Sproles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sproles throws a head kick but Zarathustra moves out of range.
Zarathustra walks into a left hand.


Also Zarathustra's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Zarathustra misses with a jab, cross combination.
Zarathustra throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Zarathustra waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sproles.
Zarathustra fails to land with a series of punches.
Zarathustra throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sproles throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jab, jab by Zarathustra - just one landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sproles throws a head kick that misses.
Zarathustra rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sproles moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Zarathustra doesn't manage to clinch there - Sproles circles away.
Sproles misses the jab.
Sproles scores with a jab. Zarathustra acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Zarathustra is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Sproles looks to score with a jab to the body but Zarathustra is just out of range.
Sproles stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Zarathustra.
Zarathustra looks to score with a jab to the body but Sproles is just out of range.
Sproles misses with a wild combination.
Sproles takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A head kick misses from Sproles.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zarathustra ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sproles moves away.
Sproles throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sproles tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Zarathustra takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete Sproles dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Also Zarathustra's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Sproles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sproles throws a knee to the head but misses.
Zarathustra wants to break free but Sproles has control.
Sproles comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Also Zarathustra's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Pete Sproles!

Pete Sproles decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
