Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Ooka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paulo Kang!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Ooka!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ooka fails to land the takedown.
Ooka pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ooka tries to land a front kick but Kang steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Ooka fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kang, pushing him back against the cage.
Kang misses with a punch on the inside.
Ooka wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kang is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Ooka digs a right hand into Kang's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kang's gas tank.
Ooka wants a takedown.
Ooka has Kang pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kang manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Paulo Kang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Ooka.

Ooka tries for a takedown but Kang manages to get underhooks.
Kang scores with a shoulder strike.

Kang lands a hook that snaps the head of Ooka backwards.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Ooka goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kang prevents it.

Kang is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Ooka is defending well for now.
The referee calls for Kang to work.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Paulo Kang.

Ooka throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kang blocks a low kick nicely.
Kang lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kang scores with the left hand. Ooka knows he should have avoided that one.

Kang lands a leg kick that knocks Ooka off balance momentarily.

Kang has closed the distance and engaged Ooka in a clinch.
Nice body punch from Kang.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Kang tries a body shot but Ooka blocks it.
Kang presses Ooka against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Ooka tries to score a body lock takedown but Kang shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Kang lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Kang lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Kang is struggling to control the position.
Kang using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Ooka has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Ooka is looking to take this one to the mat.
Ooka drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kang pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kang throws a looping overhand right but Ooka ducks down to avoid it.

Ooka scores with a kick to the midsection.
Ooka steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kang.
Kang throws a low kick but Ooka moves out of range easily.
Kang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ooka.
Kang misses the jab.
Paulo Kang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kang fakes the leg kick and cracks Ooka in the body.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ooka thuds his right hand into Kang's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Ooka closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kang did well to prevent Ooka getting side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Ooka is trying to control the action in half guard but Kang is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ooka working over Kang with some ground and pound. Kang looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Ooka content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ooka is looking to advance position but Kang won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kang on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Ooka slips a straight right by Kang.
Kang on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ooka. Ooka obviously looking to wear him down.
Ooka shoots for a double leg takedown but Kang sprawls well. He's pushed Ooka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kang just misses with a punch to the body.

Kang connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kang punishes Ooka's body with a nice straight punch.

Kang attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Kang on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ooka. Ooka obviously looking to wear him down.
Kang connects with a leg kick. Ooka looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Kang gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Ooka fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kang has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Paulo Kang is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kang throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ooka lands with a straight right. Kang didn't see that one coming.
Ooka moves forwards but Kang connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Ooka fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

and Ooka counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kang's guard now.
Kang seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Ooka missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Ooka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kang wants to sweep here but Ooka controlling him for the moment.
Kang trying to keep a closed guard but Ooka is proving a slippery customer.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Ooka sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kang's guard.
Ooka prevents Kang from improving his position.

Kang is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ooka scores with a couple of nice shots.
Ooka throwing shots but Kang is blocking nicely.

Ooka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ooka thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kang's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ooka swings for the body but Kang moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Kang. No joy for Ooka on that attempt.

Kang stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kang wants it to stay on the feet.

Paulo Kang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Ooka.
Kang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ooka.
Ooka will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ooka shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kang as he avoids it easily.
Kang avoids the head kick by Ooka.
Kang uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ooka has time to react.
Kang avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kang connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kang scores with a jab. Ooka acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


That has opened up Paul Ooka's cut even more.

Kang lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ooka's sensitive parts.
Kang tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ooka was well out of range. Poor timing from Kang.
Ooka misses with a straight left.
Kang throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ooka sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ooka lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kang at a distance.
Kang dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ooka. That did some damage!
Kang just misses with a punch to the body.
Kang gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ooka.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A less than humble Paulo Kang misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
