Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brian Lancer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Edward Szponder!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Szponder misses with a takedown attempt - Lancer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Szponder displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lancer throws out the jab.
Szponder tries to clinch but Lancer is having none of it.
Szponder moves out of range as Lancer strikes.
A bone on bone clash there as Szponder blocks the leg kick.
Szponder slips under a jab from Lancer.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Szponder checks a leg kick.
Lancer fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Szponder checks it well.
Szponder tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lancer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Szponder somewhat.
Szponder fails with the takedown.
Brian Lancer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edward Szponder.
Lancer misses with a double jab.
Lancer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Szponder showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lancer.
Lancer misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Szponder needs to keep his hands up - Lancer had a free shot at his head there.
Szponder closes the distance and clinches up with Lancer, looking for a takedown. Szponder pushes Lancer against the cage but Lancer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Brian Lancer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Szponder looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Szponder wants to clinch up but Lancer keeps it at a distance.
Lancer's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lancer duly obliges.
Szponder takes one on the button.
Szponder tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lancer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Szponder somewhat.

Szponder clinches.
Szponder is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lancer to keep the fight standing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Szponder has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Szponder using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Lancer has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Szponder fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Szponder is trying to pull guard but Lancer has him pressed against the cage.

Lancer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lancer misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lancer comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Lancer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Szponder manages to avoid it.
Lancer scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Szponder misses with a takedown attempt
and Szponder takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Szponder looks gassed!
Lancer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lancer lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


Szponder is rocked!
Lancer cracks Szponder with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Szponder falls to his knees and Lancer doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brian Lancer!
