Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Shamrock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kiaro Elston!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shamrock shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shamrock showed some decent athleticism there.
Elston slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Shamrock is in close to Elston's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Elston is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shamrock wants to pass the guard but Elston is keeping the position.
Shamrock wants to control from the top but Elston keeps moving.
Shamrock has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Elston tries for a takedown but Shamrock circles away easily

and Shamrock counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Elston!
Elston is working to get back to half guard.
Elston's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Shamrock scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Shamrock avoids the attempt from Elston to control.
Shamrock takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shamrock looking to break Elston's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Elston remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Shamrock will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shamrock is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Shamrock gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Shamrock gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Shamrock apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Elston postures up.
Shamrock pulls Elston in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shamrock keeping moving, preventing Elston from controlling successfully.
Shamrock tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Elston with a nice head shot there.
Elston stands and throws Shamrock's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Elston really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shamrock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
You can see the frustration on Shamrock's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Shamrock manages to work his way to half guard, despite Elston's best efforts.
Elston is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Elston prevents Shamrock from getting the reversal.
Shamrock wants to control but Elston is having none of it.
Elston wants to control the pace but Shamrock is squirming around nicely.

Elston jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Shamrock manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Shamrock can't do much from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Elston stands up and beckons Shamrock to his feet.
Shamrock takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Shamrock tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Elston thuds a left hand into Shamrock's body.
Shamrock throws a left and a right that both miss

and Elston counters with a series of strikes that sends Shamrock to the canvas! Elston follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!


Shamrock is rocked!
Elston passes Shamrock's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Oh Shamrock is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Elston wants to get back to his feet.
Shamrock seems to have got his legs back now.

Elston wants to work for an arm triangle but Shamrock is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice strikes from Elston there.
Shamrock won't allow Elston to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kiaro Elston will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Elston counters with a left and a right that hurts Shamrock! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Elston jumps into full mount!

Elston wants to stand but Shamrock is controlling his posture from full guard.

Shamrock is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Shamrock tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Elston just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Shamrock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Elston has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Shamrock uses from the top position.
