The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rees closes the distance looking to clinch

and Kidd counters by clinching up.
Rees tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kidd avoids it.

Rees gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kidd regains guard.
Kidd lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rees!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rees is bucking up trying to escape but Kidd cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Kidd has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kidd has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Rees is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kidd yanks on the arm and Rees is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kidd.
