Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jon Taylor was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raje Malapitan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Taylor! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malapitan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Taylor sprawls well initially but Malapitan persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Malapitan seems to be working for a kimura but Taylor defends the submission attempt. Taylor regains full guard. Nicely done. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Taylor can do anything to dispel that myth. Malapitan scoring with some ground and pound. Taylor is looking for a triangle but Malapitan pushes his legs off easily.
Malapitan landing some decent shots from guard. Malapitan drops back looking for a leg! Taylor is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Taylor manages to kick Malapitan off! Malapitan jumps back into Taylor's guard. Malapitan forces his way into half guard. Taylor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Malapitan pulls his head out easily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Taylor avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Malapitan. Malapitan trying to mount his opponent but Taylor defends it. Taylor gets back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Malapitan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Malapitan trying to control the position from guard on top but Taylor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Malapitan passes easily into side control. Nice work. Taylor gets back to half guard. Taylor wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Taylor gets full guard. Taylor working for a triangle but Malapitan defends it easily.
Taylor looks gassed! Malapitan content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Malapitan postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Taylor can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Malapitan controls the pace. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Taylor has his foot on Malapitan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Malapitan works his way back into a safe position though. Malapitan passes into half guard. Malapitan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Taylor is just riding it out for now. Malapitan eventually gives up the hold. Taylor won't allow Malapitan to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taylor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Malapitan pulls his head out easily. Malapitan prevents Taylor from standing back up.
Malapitan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Taylor keeps working. Malapitan seems to be looking for submissions.
Malapitan trying to control the action but Taylor is working from the bottom. Malapitan is trying to work for a kimura but Taylor is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Taylor tries to reverse the position but Malapitan maintains control. Malapitan with good strikes from the mount here! Taylor is desperately trying to improve his position but Malapitan has a good base and remains in mount. Malapitan landing punches. Malapitan goes for an armbar but Taylor turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Taylor. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Taylor drops back, looking for a kneebar! Malapitan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Malapitan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Malapitan! Taylor tries to bench press Malapitan off him but Malapitan keeps the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Malapitan connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Taylor some visible discomfort.
Malapitan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Taylor is looking to reverse the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raje Malapitan dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Taylor tries to clinch and Malapitan counters with a left and a right that stings Taylor. Taylor gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Malapitan to score an easy takedown into full guard. Malapitan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Taylor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Malapitan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Malapitan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Malapitan connects with a couple of short punches. Malapitan landing some decent shots from guard. Malapitan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Malapitan working some strikes from top position. Malapitan advances position into side control! Raje Malapitan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Malapitan wants to control but Taylor is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Taylor looking for submissions off his back. Taylor is breathing heavily. Malapitan wants to work for an arm triangle but Taylor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Malapitan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Taylor moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Taylor is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Malapitan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Taylor sees it coming and defends easily. Taylor looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Taylor looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Malapitan works his way into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Malapitan grinds an elbow into Taylor's temple. Taylor tries to escape but Malapitan is in control. Malapitan is working to tighten is grip on Taylor's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Taylor has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Malapitan is really squeezing tight and eventually Taylor passes out! Malapitan breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
