The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Stepanov.
Buxley fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Stepanov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Buxley tries to clinch up but Stepanov circles away and keeps his distance.

Buxley takes the fight into the clinch.

Stepanov works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Stepanov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Stepanov wants to control from the top but Buxley keeps moving.
Stepanov trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Buxley manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Stepanov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Buxley gets caught flat footed, as Stepanov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buxley can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stepanov controls the pace.
Stepanov wants to control from the top but Buxley keeps moving.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Stepanov throws a big elbow that misses.
Stepanov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stepanov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Buxley being controlled here, momentarily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Alexej Stepanov.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stepanov.
Buxley falls off balance throwing a combination

and Stepanov counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Buxley is looking to stand up but Stepanov won't let him.
Buxley looks gassed!
Stepanov will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Stepanov has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Buxley should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Stepanov has tightened it up now! Buxley should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
