Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lenny Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harper Pool (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lenny Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harper Pool!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin checks a low kick from Pool.
Pool walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Martin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Martin scores with a nice strike.

Martin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pool makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Martin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pool tries to bench press Martin off him but Martin keeps the position.
Pool stops Martin from passing to mount.
Martin moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Martin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pool, who protects the arm well.

Martin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pool is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Martin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pool has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Martin but great work by Pool.
Pool tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Martin has one of Pool's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Pool is looking to take a break and control but Martin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pool is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Martin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Martin is looking to reverse the position.

Pool wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Martin, who protects the arm well.

Pool decides to stand back up. Pool steps back and let's Martin get back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

That was a close round but I would say that Lenny Martin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Pool tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Martin paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pool checks a leg kick.

Martin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pool to the ground. Martin is now in Pool's guard.

Martin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Martin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pool manages to get himself to full guard.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Martin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pool has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pool and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Pool in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Martin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
