PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Koba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanislav Endrinikomonov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Endrinikomonov has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Xavier Koba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stanislav Endrinikomonov!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koba has taken the fight to the clinch.
Endrinikomonov looks gassed!
Koba tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Endrinikomonov has eaten all the pies!
Koba has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Endrinikomonov avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Koba prevents Endrinikomonov from breaking the clinch.

Koba breaks from the clinch.
Koba will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Koba shoots in but Endrinikomonov avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Horrible takedown by Koba or perhaps it was just good defense by Endrinikomonov which made him look bad.

Koba moves in looking to clinch but Endrinikomonov pushes him off.
Endrinikomonov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Endrinikomonov wants it to stay on the feet.

Koba is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Endrinikomonov is keeping busy.

Koba shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Endrinikomonov defends it nicely.

Endrinikomonov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Endrinikomonov lands in his opponent's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Koba has his foot on Endrinikomonov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Endrinikomonov works his way back into a safe position though.
Endrinikomonov won't allow Koba to sweep him here.
Koba thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Koba knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Endrinikomonov on the ground.

Endrinikomonov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Koba is not content to let Endrinikomonov control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Koba is looking to regain half guard here but Endrinikomonov keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Xavier Koba will probably get the nod.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Koba shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Endrinikomonov but Endrinikomonov pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Koba dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Endrinikomonov. That did some damage!

Endrinikomonov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Endrinikomonov wants it to stay on the feet.

Koba throws a head kick that misses.
Xavier Koba is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Koba misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Koba wants to sweep here but Endrinikomonov controlling him for the moment.

Endrinikomonov stands up from Koba's guard - Endrinikomonov perhaps looking for a knockout.

Endrinikomonov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Koba circles away quickly and effectively.
Koba shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Endrinikomonov as he avoids it easily.
Koba tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Endrinikomonov paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Endrinikomonov has a takedown stuffed.
Koba fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Endrinikomonov has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A nice leg kick lands there from Koba.
Koba tries to close the distance and clinch up but Endrinikomonov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Koba shoots for a takedown but Endrinikomonov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Endrinikomonov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Koba to the mat! Koba manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Stanislav Endrinikomonov's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Endrinikomonov dodges the punch combination from Koba.
Endrinikomonov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Koba dives in and grabs Endrinikomonov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Endrinikomonov pushes down on Koba's head and hops out.

and Endrinikomonov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Koba's guard now.

Koba is working an open guard so Endrinikomonov takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Xavier Koba is winning the standup battle so far.
Koba tries to clinch but Endrinikomonov moves out of range.
Koba keeps Endrinikomonov at a distance using the push kick.
Koba looks for a takedown but Endrinikomonov sprawls well.

Endrinikomonov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Koba napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Stanislav Endrinikomonov has got the better of the ground game so far.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Endrinikomonov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Endrinikomonov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Koba is looking for a sweep.
Koba can't do much from the bottom here.

Endrinikomonov decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Koba tries to close the distance and clinch but Endrinikomonov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Koba fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Endrinikomonov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Koba's guard.

Koba looking to hit a scissor sweep but Endrinikomonov is one step ahead there.

Endrinikomonov is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koba is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Endrinikomonov defends well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Endrinikomonov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Endrinikomonov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Stanislav Endrinikomonov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Xavier Koba is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Endrinikomonov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Stanislav Endrinikomonov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Koba has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
