The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Genovese walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Genovese throws a sloppy head kick and Hermias moves out of range easily.
Genovese is looking to clinch.
Genovese tries to clinch there but Hermias circles away.

Hermias connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Genovese's hands.
Genovese throws an overhand right that lands on Hermias's shoulder, as Hermias tries to avoid the shot.

Genovese throws out a loose jab but Hermias uses good head movement to avoid it.

Genovese gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Hermias lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Genovese cracks Hermias with a good jab.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hermias darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hermias tries for a takedown but Genovese sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

A jab from Hermias finds it's way through Genovese's defenses.

Genovese pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

and Genovese counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hermias avoids a kick to the body.

Hermias throws a hook to the side of Genovese's head but Genovese sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hermias looks to land a right hand but Genovese moved out of range.
Hermias looks to throw the jab but Genovese is out of range.
Genovese uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hermias.
Hermias shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hermias was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hermias throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Genovese because Hermias loaded up on that one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hermias tries to control but Genovese wriggling away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
