Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Nowak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chase Owens! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Owens bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Nowak's head backwards. Nowak tries to clinch but Owens moves out of range. Nowak stuffs the takedown attempt from Owens. Owens gets slowly back to his feet. Owens decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Owens in particular looking to stall. Nowak moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Nowak tries to land a sweep but no joy. Nowak has his feet on Owens's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Owens tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nowak sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Owens somewhat. Owens shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nowak pinned against the cage. Nowak gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kyle Nowak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chase Owens.
That's one minute gone in the round. Owens fails with a takedown attempt. Owens misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Owens shoots in but Nowak avoids the takedown attempt easily. Owens looks gassed! Nowak slips a jab and a cross from Owens.
Nowak tries for a takedown but Owens sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nowak misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Owens throws a push kick but Nowak slaps the foot to one side. Nowak fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Owens, pushing him back against the cage. Nowak breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Owens walks forward, straight into a front kick from Nowak. Owens tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nowak swats him away and circles back towards the center. Owens fails in his attempt to clinch. Nowak throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
That kick from Nowak tenderised Owens's leg. Owens is trying to keep his angry face on. Nowak slaps away a takedown attempt from Owens, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nowak darts in and clinches Owens up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nowak has Owens pushed against the cage. Nowak wants a takedown.
Nowak using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Owens has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Owens is trying to break the clinch but Nowak has him pressed against the cage. Owens tries to pull guard but Nowak won't allow it.

Nowak shoots in looking for a takedown but Owens manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nowak's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Some wild striking there from Nowak.
Nice sprawl there from Owens as Nowak shoots in. Nowak fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Nowak throws a quick inside leg kick. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nowak digs a good hook to Owens's body.
Nowak closes the distance and clinches. Nowak has Owens pressed against the cage.

Nowak throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Nowak on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Nowak keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Owens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nowak as he jumps to the side. Owens pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nowak has a takedown stuffed. Owens is breathing heavily. Owens has closed the distance and engaged Nowak in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Nowak lands an elbow just above Owens 's eye.
It looks like Chase Owens has been cut. Nowak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nowak is defended easily by Owens. Nowak misses with a double jab.
Owens wants to clinch up but Nowak keeps it at a distance. Owens lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Nowak backs up against the cage.
Nowak will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Owens tries to clinch there but Nowak circles away.
Nowak shoots in for a takedown but Owens shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Owens tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nowak paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Nowak forces Owens back against the cage and clinches. Owens working hard to break the clinch. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nowak just misses with a elbow thrown towards Owens's brow. Nowak's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Owens is looking to clinch. Nice takedown defense from Nowak. No joy for Owens on that attempt. Kyle Nowak is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nowak clinches with his opponent.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Nowak for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Nowak keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Owens's efforts to push away. Nowak drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A frustrated look appears on Owens's face as he tries to break the clinch. Nowak has Owens pressed against the cage.

Chase Owens seems to be getting the better of the standup. Nowak clinches. Knees in the clinch landing for Nowak.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nowak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nowak shoots in looking for a takedown but Owens manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nowak's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Owens misses with a takedown attempt - Nowak sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Owens keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Owens connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Owens closes the distance and clinches up with Nowak, looking for a takedown. Owens pushes Nowak against the cage but Nowak circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Owens looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nowak is fending him off so far but Owens persists. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Nowak takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Nowak breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nowak looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Nowak scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Owens doesn't seem bothered though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nowak stuffs the takedown. Nowak moves into the clinch successfully.
Nowak blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Nowak has Owens pushed against the cage. Nowak manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Owens trying to control the position from guard on top but Nowak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Owens pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nowak is keeping the position for now. Owens wants to stand but Nowak is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nowak wants to sweep but no luck. Nowak working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Owens doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Owens manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Nowak is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Nowak lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Owens!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nowak working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Nowak looking to control and managing it successfully.
