Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flavio Sandoval (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cross comes to the cage accompanied by The American Dream Song. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Cross! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Flavio Sandoval! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sandoval goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Cross loads up on a big right hand but Sandoval slips the punch. Sandoval does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. A telegraphed right hand from Cross misses the target. Sandoval takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Sandoval ducks right into an uppercut from Cross. Sandoval lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Cross closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sandoval's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Cross stopping the sweep attempt from Sandoval. Sandoval avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Cross makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Cross lands a couple of elbows. Sandoval trying to keep a closed guard but Cross is proving a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cross with a flurry of punches that miss. Sandoval looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cross looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cross pushing down on Sandoval's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Sandoval wants to control but Cross is keeping busy and won't allow it. Sandoval tries to get to full guard but Cross has control of the leg. Cross thows a huge punch but Sandoval dodges it nicely.
Sandoval is trying to maintain the position but Cross is very close to passing his half guard. Cross working the head and body with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sandoval is not content to let Cross control the position. Cross lands strikes from half guard. Cross has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sandoval is staying active underneath Cross, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Cross tries to pass to full mount but Sandoval defends it. Sandoval trying to control from the bottom.
Ground and pound from Cross. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sandoval slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Sandoval is looking for a triangle but Cross pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cross stopping the sweep attempt from Sandoval. Sandoval bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cross's guard. Cross looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cross pulls Sandoval in close to his closed guard and prevents Sandoval from doing any damage or advancing position. Cross wants to sweep but no luck. Cross is trying to control the position but Sandoval postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cross is really struggling to control Sandoval but he's trying to hold on to the position. Cross has his foot on Sandoval's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sandoval works his way back into a safe position though. Sandoval not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Sandoval wanted to stand there but Cross had control of the position. Sandoval sitting in guard here, content to control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A slapping leg kick lands for Cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Cross dominated that round. That's time! Cross's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Cross catches Sandoval with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Cross jabs Sandoval right on the nose. Sandoval blinks but takes it well. Cross loads up on a big right hand but Sandoval slips the punch. Sandoval misses with a double jab.

and Cross makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Cross misses with a body shot.
Cross fails in his attempt to clinch. A big right from Sandoval misses. A punch combination from Sandoval misses. Sandoval fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Cross is out of range. Sandoval clobbers Cross with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Sandoval thumps Cross with a low kick. Sandoval tries to sprawl but Cross drives through with a takedown into half guard. Cross wants to pass the guard but Sandoval is defending well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sandoval has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cross is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sandoval trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Cross is in the full mount, landing strikes. Cross working Sandoval over with strikes here. Sandoval is squirming around, avoiding Cross's attempts to control the action. Cross is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sandoval can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Cross scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Sandoval?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sandoval is looking to improve his position but Cross isn't that keen on the idea. Cross lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Sandoval is desperately trying to improve his position but Cross has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cross looking to control but Sandoval is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Sandoval taking shots to the head. Sandoval regains half guard. Cross looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sandoval with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Sandoval trying to hold on to Cross's head to control him but Cross postures up.
Cross wants to control but Sandoval is keeping him busy. Cross not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cross is just content to waste time from the top position. Sandoval takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Cross postures up in Sandoval's guard and throws a big left but Sandoval blocks it. Sandoval looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cross content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Cross landing with the ground and pound. Sandoval keeping moving, preventing Cross from controlling successfully. Cross is looking to advance position but Sandoval has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cross is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Cross is in a horrible position here. Sandoval smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Cross wants to hold on but Sandoval pushes him away. Sandoval working Cross over with strikes here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cross wants to hold on but Sandoval pushes him away. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sandoval raining down shots from the mount! Cross regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Cross dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Cross slips under a jab. Sandoval on the wrong end of a nice jab. Sandoval fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Cross has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Cross swings for the body but Sandoval moves out of range.
Cross shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sandoval napping and manages to drive through into side control! Cross cracks Sandoval with a big elbow. Sandoval is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Cross is looking to take a break and control but Sandoval is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sandoval tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cross wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sandoval takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Cross scores with punches from side control. Cross trying to control the action but Sandoval is working from the bottom. Cross creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Cross wants to control but Sandoval is keeping him busy. Cross advances to full mount. Sandoval is desperately trying to improve his position but Cross has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cross working Sandoval over with strikes here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cross working the ground and pound effectively.
Sandoval tries to lock up and control but Cross gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Cross looking to finish Sandoval with some ground and pound. This is bad for Sandoval! Cross pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Cross landing strikes from the mount and Sandoval is in trouble! Sandoval tries to reverse the position but Cross maintains control. Cross fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Sandoval is rocked! Cross postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Sandoval in real trouble here! The ref calls for Sandoval to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Cross! David Cross retains his lightweight title! Jumping up and down and very excited, David Cross waved his t-shirt featuring West Coast Apparel 's logo in front of the cameras.
