Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matheus Ruas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Cranmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyle Cranmer!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruas shoots and misses
and Cranmer counters with a series of strikes. Ruas will be more careful next time no doubt.
Ruas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Cranmer counters with a left and a right that stings Ruas.

Ruas gets the takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ground and pound from Ruas seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Ruas misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ruas in side control, throwing shots but Cranmer defends.
Ruas moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Ruas seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cranmer for as long as he can get away with.

Ruas tries to advance to mount but can't.
A lull in the action here.
Cranmer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ruas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cranmer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cranmer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ruas creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cranmer sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Ruas is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cranmer will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ruas throws an elbow but Cranmer slips to the side and avoids it well.

Ruas remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cranmer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ruas moves into full mount!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ruas unloads with some shots from mount but Cranmer bucks and avoids them well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ruas misses with a head shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Ruas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ruas throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cranmer because Ruas loaded up on that one.

Ruas is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cranmer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Cranmer is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Cranmer wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Ruas.
Ruas thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Ruas throws some wild stikes that Cranmer manages to avoid easily.

Cranmer has left one of his arms exposed and Ruas doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Cranmer screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
