PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ami Dent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willy Pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dent comes to the cage accompanied by DJ Madman - Meisje zo lelijk als de nacht . Willy Pete told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Ami Dent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Willy Pete!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dent throws a lazy right hand but Pete sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dent moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Willy Pete has been cut.
Pete avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dent dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Pete tries to clinch up but Dent circles away and keeps his distance.
Pete swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dent slips under a jab.
Dent comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Dent lands with a shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pete throws a series of punches but Dent moves out of range.
Dent takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ami Dent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dent fails with an attempt to clinch.

Dent closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pete's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Dent loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Dent is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Pete escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dent gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dent drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pete manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dent has Pete in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dent is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dent is trying to control. Pete wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dent connects with a nice short shot to Pete's temple.
Dent lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Pete has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dent is working away from the top position though.
Dent has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pete is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dent is aware though and is defending well.

Dent stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pete swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pete has his foot on Dent's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dent works his way back into a safe position though.

Dent ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Pete tries to throw a body punch but Dent avoids it by throwing Pete back against the cage.
Pete with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Pete throws a punch but it's blocked by Dent.

Dent lands a big knee! That's hurt Pete! Oh, he's all over the place! Dent lands another knee that sends Pete to the floor and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ami Dent took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'Dent *smiles* and says: " Ik beloof deze uitgehongerde, zwakke MMA joint nooit meer te vechten. Drie keer is genoeg!"'.
