Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Scope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Carlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scope's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Marry the Canvas!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Scope!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Carlo!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scope ducks under a wild hook from Carlo.
A cross from Carlo lands.
Scope misses with a left hand

and Carlo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Scope won't be happy with that.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Scope dodges the ground and pound from Carlo.

Carlo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carlo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scope sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carlo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Scope sees it coming and defends easily.

Carlo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Scope dives on top into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scope trying to control the position from guard on top but Carlo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Carlo is trying to keep Scope in close.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

We're going to have a standup here because Michael Scope wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Carlo.

Carlo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Scope manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Carlo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Scope looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Scope looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Scope!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carlo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Scope wants to control but Carlo is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carlo is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Scope shoots in but Carlo avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Scope got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carlo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Scope has managed to get both his arms back between Carlo's legs - danger averted.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Scope closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Carlo's guard.

Scope might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Michael Scope has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Carlo throws a right and a left that Scope avoids nicely.
Carlo catches Scope with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Carlo shoots in and drives through. Scope sprawls well.

Michael Scope has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Carlo.
Carlo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Scope will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Michael Scope.
Scope throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carlo.

and Carlo counters with a shoot takedown. Scope fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carlo passes Scope's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carlo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Scope's head.
Carlo looks to land a strike but Scope avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jim Carlo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Carlo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
