PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zheka Dogadkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Porter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Porter will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zheka Dogadkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bob Porter!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Porter keeps the fight on the outside.
Dogadkin tries to clinch up but Porter circles away and keeps his distance.
Dogadkin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Porter sprawls well. Porter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dogadkin gets slowly back to his feet.
Dogadkin is looking to clinch but Porter is avoiding it.
Dogadkin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Porter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Porter avoids the head kick by Dogadkin.

Porter rushes Dogadkin and presses him up against the cage.
Dogadkin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Porter.

Porter has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dogadkin uses from the top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Porter controls Dogadkin momentarily but Dogadkin frees himself.
Dogadkin won't allow Porter to sweep him here.
Dogadkin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Dogadkin stops Porter from standing up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Porter fails to land the takedown.
Dogadkin walks into a jab.

Dogadkin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dogadkin lands in his opponent's guard.
Dogadkin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dogadkin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dogadkin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dogadkin gets to his feet - Porter follows without any prompting.

Dogadkin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Porter defends it nicely.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Porter!


It looks like Zheka Dogadkin has been cut.
Porter lands with a good body shot.
Dogadkin stuffs the takedown.
Zheka Dogadkin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Porter.
Dogadkin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Porter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dogadkin somewhat.
Porter shoots in but Dogadkin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Porter looks gassed!
Nice takedown defense from Porter. No joy for Dogadkin on that attempt.

Porter instigates a clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Dogadkin works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dogadkin stands up and waves to Porter to follow him.
Porter dives in and grabs Dogadkin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dogadkin pushes down on Porter's head and hops out.
Dogadkin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Porter avoids it really well and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Zheka Dogadkin will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Porter misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Porter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dogadkin but Dogadkin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Porter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dogadkin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dogadkin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Porter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Dogadkin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Porter, who protects the arm well.

Porter is trying to buck Dogadkin off.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Dogadkin throws an elbow but Porter slips to the side and avoids it well.

Dogadkin decides to stand back up. Dogadkin steps back and let's Porter get back to his feet.
Porter shoots in looking for a takedown but Dogadkin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Porter's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Zheka Dogadkin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Porter.
Dogadkin fails to land the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dogadkin moves in looking to clinch but Porter pushes him off.
Dogadkin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Porter circles away.
Dogadkin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Dogadkin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Porter tries to avoid it but Dogadkin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Porter to the ground. Porter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Porter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Dogadkin tries to keep at a distance but Porter has taken the fight into the clinch.
Dogadkin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Porter walks away with a smile on his face. Dogadkin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Porter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Porter shoots for a takedown but Dogadkin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Dogadkin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Porter avoids it really well and circles away.
Porter tries to close the distance and clinch but Dogadkin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Porter moves into range and clinches up with Dogadkin.
Porter lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dogadkin prevents Porter from breaking the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Porter's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Dogadkin tries to score a body lock takedown but Porter shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Dogadkin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!



Porter has closed the distance and engaged Dogadkin in a clinch.
Dogadkin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Porter fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Dogadkin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dogadkin drives through with a takedown into guard.

Porter isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Dogadkin stacks Porter on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Dogadkin!

You can see the frustration on Porter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Porter is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Dogadkin wants to get back to his feet.
Dogadkin is keen to just control but Porter is a slippery customer.
Dogadkin is thwarting Porter's attempts to control the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dogadkin seems to be looking for submissions.

Dogadkin moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Porter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dogadkin working the strikes but Porter uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Dogadkin moves into full mount! Porter won't be happy about that!

Dogadkin is landing with some decent strikes but Porter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

And that's the end of the fight!
Zheka Dogadkin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dogadkin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
