Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Trigger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Trigger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake Shields!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trigger rushes Shields and presses him up against the cage.
Shields misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Trigger.
Shields jumps guard but Trigger turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Shields lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Trigger with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Shields tries to pull guard but Trigger won't allow it.

Shields is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Trigger can't fight it off and eventually Shields manages to take the fight to the floor. Trigger looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Trigger preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Trigger looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Trigger is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Trigger keeping moving, preventing Shields from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Trigger throws a lazy right hand but Shields sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sloppy strikes from Shields. Those never looked like landing.

Trigger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Trigger throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Trigger working away.
Shields is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Trigger has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Trigger thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shields manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Shields lands with a punch from half guard.

Shields is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Trigger has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shields moves into full mount! Trigger won't be happy about that!
Shields trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Trigger is trying desperately to improve position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shields unloading with bombs!

Shields goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Trigger is on top in guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Shields has control of Trigger's left arm, preventing Trigger from doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Trigger is looking to work some ground and pound but Shields has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Shields dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


An inside leg kick lands from Trigger.
Trigger with a poor takedown

and Shields counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Trigger!
Trigger is desperately trying to improve his position but Shields has a good base and remains in mount.

Trigger is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shields looking to control and managing it successfully.
Shields postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Trigger badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Shields around the waist but Shields pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Shields is the winner by TKO! Shields jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Shields!
