Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Joyce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Fry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joyce throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Fry's head.
Joyce darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Joyce tries to clinch but Fry moves out of range.
Joyce gets caught napping as Fry dives in and scores a takedown. Joyce manages to retain guard.
Fry controls from within his opponent's guard.
Fry landing some decent shots from guard.
Fry controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Cody Fry hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Joyce scores with a three punch combo!
Fry fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Joyce to the ground. Fry is now in Joyce's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joyce wants to stand up but Fry is controlling him.
Fry connects with a couple of short punches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fry slips nicely into half guard.
Fry is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Joyce knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fry on the ground.

Fry's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Fry working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Joyce has hold of Fry's hands but Fry slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Fry with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Fry lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Fry seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fry winds up and cracks Joyce with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Joyce is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Fry seems content to control.
Joyce on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fry uses his free foot to push down on Joyce's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Joyce.

Fry looking to score a takedown here. Joyce is defending well but Fry drives through and ends up in Joyce's guard.

Fry seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Fry postures up and lands a big shot to Joyce's brow.

Fry stands up over Joyce, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Fry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Fry drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fry jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Joyce wants to stand but Fry is controlling the position.
Fry sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Joyce's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fry looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Fry passes to full mount!
Fry landing punches.

Fry looking to isolate an arm here. Joyce doesn't see it coming and as Fry extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Fry!
