Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Duran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cage has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Duran! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johny Cage! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duran wants to clinch up but Cage keeps it at a distance. Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign! Duran fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Duran wants to clinch. Duran is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Duran moves in looking to clinch but Cage pushes him off. Duran tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cage throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Duran. Duran looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Cage doesn't succeed with the takedown and Duran counters with a shoot takedown. Cage fights it but they end up in guard. Duran looking to pass the guard. Duran has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cage is proving hard to escape from. Cage keeping full guard, as Duran tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duran trying to control but Cage is working from the bottom. Duran passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Duran is tying to control. Cage wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Duran is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Cage slips a jab and a cross from Duran.

and Duran moves into the clinch. Duran tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cage just stands there and leans against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Duran. That's going to take a lot out of him. Duran tries for a takedown but Cage manages to get underhooks.
Cage goes for a takedown attempt but Duran pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Cage takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Cage swats away the attempt to clinch by Duran. Cage shoots in looking for a takedown. Duran tries to sprawl out of it but Cage keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duran manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Duran drives through and clinches with Cage against the cage.
Cage gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Cage wants to pass the guard but Duran is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cage throwing strikes from guard but Duran blocks nicely. Duran seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Duran looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cage is one step ahead there. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cage is stalling in the full guard. Cage throwing strikes from guard but Duran blocks nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cage stands up from guard. Let's bang! Cage shoots and misses and Duran counters with an inside leg kick. Duran throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
That has opened up Johny Cage's cut even more. Cage stuffs the takedown. Cage swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Duran counters with a three punch combo that has Cage backing up. Cage nods at Duran to acknowledge the strikes. Cage fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Duran moves into the clinch. Cage wants the takedown. Duran is fighting it off but Cage persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Duran's guard against the cage. Cage won't allow Duran to get back to his feet. Cage gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Duran decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Duran dominated that round. The cut man is working on Johny Cage's cut. That's time! Duran's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Duran decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cage's guard. Cage tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cage is working an open guard so Duran takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Cage throws a lazy uppercut
and Duran counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cage's guard now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cage wants to stand up but Duran is controlling him. Duran trying to control but Cage is working from the bottom. Cage pushes Duran off and scrambles back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Duran makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Cage really felt that one! Duran tries to clinch up. Cage keeps the fight on the outside. Cage closes the distance but Duran moves to the side and Duran counters with a solid body kick. Nice sprawl there from Cage as Duran shoots in. Duran fails in his attempt to clinch. Cage swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Duran counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cage's guard now. Duran decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Cage closes the distance and clinches. Cage tries to break the clinch but Duran is controlling the position. Duran fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Cage drops down looking for an ankle pick but Duran pulls his leg out and moves away.

Duran is fighting it off but Cage persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Duran's guard against the cage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cage is looking to work some ground and pound but Duran has wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cage thows a big elbow that misses. Duran not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cage working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Cage is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Duran has Cage pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cage manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Duran gets underhooks to prevent Cage's takedown attempt.

Duran is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cage is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Duran to the mat. Duran regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Cage would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Cage preventing the sweep. Cage trying to control but Duran is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cage has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Duran is proving hard to escape from. Duran lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cage! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duran slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Cage throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Duran stands up and beckons Cage to his feet. Duran scores with a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cage tries to clinch but fails miserably and Duran counters with a one-two to the body. Duran throws a nice head kick!

Duran plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Cage throws a sloppy head kick and Duran counters with a one-two to the body. Duran doesn't manage to clinch there - Cage circles away.
Cage wants to clinch up but Duran keeps it at a distance. Duran scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Duran tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cage's legs. Cage lands with an elbow strike from the bottom. Duran in side control, just content to control the action for now. Duran advances nicely into full mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duran looking to control and managing it successfully. Cage tries to hold on but Duran postures up. Duran stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Duran plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Cage misses with a double jab
and Duran counters with a head kick. That will keep Cage thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Duran showed his dominance in that final round. Well Duran has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
