And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Malenko!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Suzukawa.
Malenko avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Malenko looking to score a takedown here. Suzukawa is defending well but Malenko drives through and ends up in Suzukawa's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Suzukawa keeping moving, preventing Malenko from controlling successfully.

Malenko thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Malenko wants to control from the top but Suzukawa keeps moving.
Malenko is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Malenko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Suzukawa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Suzukawa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Suzukawa!
Malenko sneaks back into half guard.

Malenko is trying to control but can't.
Malenko is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Malenko wants to control but Suzukawa passes into side.
Malenko is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Suzukawa off and has taken his back!
Suzukawa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Malenko on the ground.

Malenko is working for a rear naked choke. Suzukawa is not defending it well and Malenko has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Suzukawa refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Suzukawa's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dean Malenko!
