Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leonard Matthews! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cris Dupont! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matthews fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dupont avoids it really well and circles away. Matthews misses with a series of wild punches.
Horrible takedown by Matthews or perhaps it was just good defense by Dupont which made him look bad. Dupont showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Matthews.
Matthews throws a right and a left that Dupont avoids nicely. Matthews is breathing heavily. Matthews throws a nice looking combination but Dupont bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Matthews is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dupont sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leonard Matthews. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dupont shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Matthews as he jumps to the side. Dupont fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Matthews keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Matthews scores with a three punch combo!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Dupont tries to score a power double leg takedown but Matthews sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dupont somewhat. No luck for Dupont with that takedown attempt. Matthews fails in his attempt to clinch. Matthews with a lazy takedown attempt and Dupont counters with a shoot takedown. Matthews fights it but they end up in guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dupont drops back looking for a leg! Matthews is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Matthews manages to kick Dupont off! Dupont jumps back into Matthews's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dupont thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Dupont seems to have locked his on tight now - Matthews screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Dupont, as he picks up the win!
