PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Slagman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by Darude - Sandstorm . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Frank Slagman was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Slagman!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slagman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Slagman pulls his head out easily.

Slagman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Silva manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Slagman has Silva in his guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Silva takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Silva slips a nice elbow through Slagman's hands, connecting with Slagman's forehead.

Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slagman defends it well.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Silva connects with a nice short shot to Slagman's temple.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Silva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Silva manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Slagman on his heels. He'll look to pass Slagman's guard now, I'm sure.

Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Silva is landing with some decent strikes but Slagman is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Silva is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Slagman can do to turn this around?

Silva is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Slagman has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Silva lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Silva is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Slagman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Silva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Slagman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Slagman is looking to improve his position but Silva isn't that keen on the idea.
Silva lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Silva postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Slagman looks a forlorn figure.

Well Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
