PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Jerome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Howard Langston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jerome comes to the cage accompanied by Dance with the Devil-Immortal Technique. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Al Jerome!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Howard Langston!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jerome uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Langston.
Langston showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jerome.
Jerome ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Langston moves away.

Jerome has Langston up against the cage in a clinch.
Jerome is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Langston is keeping busy.
Langston prevents the takedown attempt.
A short right from Jerome.
Langston wants a takedown.

Jerome breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jerome drops Langston with a left and a right! Oh, Langston is hurt - Jerome dives into side control looking to finish!

It looks like Howard Langston has been cut.

Jerome tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jerome has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Langston is still in real trouble! Can Jerome finish him?
Langston is looking for a sweep.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Langston seems to have recovered his senses.
Langston avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jerome.
Langston tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Langston throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Jerome goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Langston rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Jerome's guard! Nice work there by Langston!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jerome swings and misses with a hook to the body.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Langston attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Langston ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jerome is breathing heavily.
Jerome has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jerome there as he acknowledges the shot.
A jab from Langston finds it's way through Jerome's defenses.


Jerome is rocked!
Jerome throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Langston.
Oh Jerome is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jerome just misses with a punch to the body.
Jerome seems to have got his legs back now.
Jerome waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Langston.
Langston scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Langston looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jerome wants to control but Langston is keeping busy.

Jerome looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jerome is looking to control Langston's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jerome avoid being mounted?
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jerome wants to get back to full guard.
Langston is keen to just control but Jerome is a slippery customer.
Jerome is looking for a sweep. Langston is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jerome is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Langston pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jerome moves in looking to clinch but Langston pushes him off.
Langston throws a nice looking combination but Jerome bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jerome connects with a body shot.
A choreographed right hand from Jerome misses the target.
Jerome looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jerome uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Langston.
Langston takes one to the side of the head.
Al Jerome seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Langston takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Langston scores with a jab to the jaw.
A big left from Langston misses.
Jerome rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Langston moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jerome fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Langston pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Langston fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jerome sprawls well initially but Langston persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jerome is trying to maintain the position but Langston is very close to passing his half guard.
Langston seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jerome does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nice strikes from Langston there.
Langston tries to stand but can't do so whilst Jerome controls his leg.

Langston escapes and gets back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Langston slips a jab and a cross from Jerome.
Langston fails with the takedown

and Jerome counters with a shoot takedown. Langston fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Langston kicks Jerome off and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Al Jerome will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Howard Langston's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jerome lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Langston is looking to close the distance but Jerome sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Langston crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Langston is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Al Jerome!
