Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between D J Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Armas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Armas will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, D J Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Armas! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Armas lands a big head kick that sends Jackson tumbling to the mat! Armas takes a step backwards and waves Jackson back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like D J Jackson has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Armas stuffs the takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet. Jackson fails with the takedown. Armas gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Armas manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Armas misses with a knee to the head. Jackson swings wildly with an uppercut but Armas uses good head movement to avoid it. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Matt Armas. Jackson looks for a takedown but Armas sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for D J Jackson. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to Armas's temple. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Armas looks like he's trying to stand up.

Jackson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jackson manages to end up in side control. Armas parries the strikes from Jackson easily there. Jackson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Armas to escape.
Jackson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Armas is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Armas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jackson scores with a couple of short elbows.

Jackson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Jackson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Armas is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jackson connects with a decent elbow. Armas defending against the ground and pound. Armas defending against the ground and pound. Jackson lands an elbow. Jackson controlling the position from side mount. Jackson creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Armas looks calm but he's in trouble here. Jackson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Armas is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Jackson lets go of the hold and Armas can pop his arm back in it's socket.
