Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jan Berlak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Duncan! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Berlak looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Berlak trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Duncan wants to stand and escape but Berlak is having none of it. Berlak stands up over Duncan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Berlak trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Berlak is looking to work some ground and pound but Duncan has wrist control. Berlak is in close to Duncan's body, working some short punches and elbows. Berlak working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Duncan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Berlak is controlling him. Duncan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Berlak off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Duncan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Berlak paws at him with a jab and circles away. Berlak tries for a takedown but Duncan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Berlak fails miserably with a takedown attempt. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Berlak shoots in for a takedown but Duncan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jan Berlak. That's going to take a lot out of him. Duncan goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

That's one minute gone in the round. Duncan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Duncan wants it to stay on the feet. Berlak fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Duncan avoids it really well and circles away. Duncan is looking to clinch but Berlak is avoiding it.
No luck for Berlak with that takedown attempt. Duncan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Duncan lands with a kick to the temple. Berlak shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Duncan wants to clinch up but Berlak keeps it at a distance. Berlak with a lazy takedown attempt and Duncan counters with a leg kick. Duncan wants to clinch. Berlak shoots for a takedown but Duncan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Duncan lands a nice looking body shot.
Berlak is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Duncan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Berlak doesn't seem bothered though. Duncan lands with a thumping leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Berlak. Jan Berlak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Berlak tries for a takedown but Duncan circles away easily and Duncan counters with a nice leg kick. Duncan tries to close the distance and clinch but Berlak swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Duncan!
Duncan takes the fight into the clinch. Duncan breaks from the clinch.
Duncan gets a clinch. Duncan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Duncan works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Duncan tries to clinch up but Berlak circles away and keeps his distance. Duncan is looking to clinch. Duncan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Berlak swats him away and circles back towards the center. Duncan throws a series of strikes that have Berlak backpedaling.

Berlak gets a double leg takedown into Duncan's guard. Duncan keeping moving, preventing Berlak from controlling successfully. Berlak controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Berlak throws a big elbow that misses. Berlak trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Duncan manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Berlak wants to control but Duncan passes easily into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Duncan seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Berlak tries to roll over but Duncan keeps him under control. Duncan is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Duncan decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Duncan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Duncan lands a nice knee to the body. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Duncan gets underhooks to prevent Berlak's takedown attempt.
Berlak drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cody Duncan dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jan Berlak's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Left hook, right uppercut from Duncan. Berlak will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Berlak shoots in but Duncan avoids the takedown attempt easily. Berlak on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Duncan stuffs the takedown attempt from Berlak. Berlak gets slowly back to his feet. Duncan displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Duncan feints a jab promting Berlak to slip. Duncan then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Berlak slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Duncan tries to clinch up. Cody Duncan seems to be getting the better of the standup. This has been an exciting period of action! Berlak gets a double leg takedown into Duncan's guard. Berlak looking to sit in guard and control but Duncan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Duncan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Berlak's guard. Berlak wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Duncan is now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duncan escapes and gets back to his feet. Duncan scores with a nice body kick.
Berlak fails with the takedown and Duncan counters with a head kick. A cross from Duncan lands. Duncan forces Berlak back against the cage and clinches. Berlak tries for a takedown. No joy.
Duncan effectively controlling the action here. Duncan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Duncan scores with a one two! Berlak had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Berlak looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Duncan is fending him off so far but Berlak persists. Nope, Duncan circles away and we're back to standing. Duncan has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Berlak shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Duncan but Duncan pushes him off and we're back to square one. Duncan goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duncan moves in looking to clinch but Berlak pushes him off. Duncan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Berlak paws at him with a jab and circles away. Duncan lands a two punch combo.
Duncan takes the fight into the clinch. Duncan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Duncan pushes Berlak up against the cage in a clinch. Berlak is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Duncan is looking to control Berlak's arms but Berlak gets an underhook and turns him. Now Duncan has his back to the cage. Berlak drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Duncan gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Berlak will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Berlak shoots in looking for a takedown but Duncan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Berlak's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Duncan closes the distance and clinches. Berlak is looking to take this one to the mat. Berlak has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Duncan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Duncan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Duncan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Duncan. Berlak keeps the fight on the outside. Duncan connects with a crisp jab. Duncan lands with a slapping head kick. Duncan tries to clinch there but Berlak circles away.
Berlak shoots in for a double leg but Duncan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Duncan goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Duncan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Berlak, pushing him back against the cage. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Berlak as Duncan tries to tie him up. Duncan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Berlak drives through with a takedown into Duncan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duncan is looking to stand up but Berlak isn't so interested in that idea. Berlak throwing strikes but missing. Berlak lands a couple of elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Berlak works over Duncan with some ground and pound from guard. Berlak working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Duncan's head. Berlak looking to sit in guard and control but Duncan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Berlak looking to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Berlak looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Duncan puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Berlak trying to control but Duncan postures up.
Duncan prevents Berlak from improving his position. Berlak is positioning himself well to prevent Duncan advancing to mount. Berlak tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Duncan has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Duncan stands up from mount. Strange move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Berlak fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Duncan gets in close and instigates a clinch. Berlak goes for a takedown in the clinch but Duncan prevents it.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Berlak. Jan Berlak has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Duncan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Berlak has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Duncan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Duncan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Duncan gets a clinch. Cody Duncan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Berlak has Duncan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Duncan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
And that's the end of the fight! Cody Duncan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Duncan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
