PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean Combs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and RJ Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Combs comes to the cage accompanied by All About The Benjamins. RJ Baker is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Combs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, RJ Baker!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baker closes the distance and clinches.
Baker can't break the clinch.
Baker's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Combs swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Baker gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Combs.
Baker wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Baker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Baker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Combs is fending him off so far but Baker persists. Nope, Combs circles away and we're back to standing.
Combs attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Good standup being displayed there by Baker as he connects with a hook.
Combs tries to clinch there but Baker circles away.
Combs gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Baker counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Baker rushes Combs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Baker wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Baker fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Baker breaks the clinch.
Combs looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Baker is fending him off so far but Combs persists. Nope, Baker circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Combs. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Combs has closed the distance and engaged Baker in a clinch.
Combs wants to break free but Baker has control.
Combs tries for a takedown but Baker manages to get underhooks.
Baker lands a nice shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Combs has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Baker regains guard immediately.
Baker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Combs controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Combs won't allow Baker to get back to his feet.
Baker controlling the position.
Baker looks gassed!

Combs drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Combs jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Combs passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Combs is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Baker knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Baker is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baker regains half guard there - taking advantage of Combs's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Combs prevents Baker from standing back up.
Baker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Combs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Combs controlling the action here.
Combs's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Baker tries to roll over but Combs keeps him under control.
Baker tries to kick Combs off but Combs keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Combs winds up and cracks Baker with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baker is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A nice combination there by Baker.


It looks like Sean Combs has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Baker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Baker wants to stand but Combs has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Combs is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Baker is looking to stand up but Combs won't let him.
Combs punching from the bottom.

Combs has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Baker should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Combs has tightened it up now! Baker should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
