The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Recto tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Akiyama counters with a takedown into side control.
Akiyama controlling the position from side mount.
Recto might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Akiyama lands some shots froms side control.
Akiyama lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Akiyama decides to stand back up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Recto lands with a kick to the temple. Akiyama shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Akiyama closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Recto to the mat! Recto manages to get full guard.
Recto knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Akiyama on the ground.
Akiyama lands a couple of digs.
Recto wants to get back to his feet but Akiyama passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Akiyama has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Recto defend it? Akiyama steps over the head and cranks it - Recto is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Akiyama!
