Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edmund Dantes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cro Cop!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cop scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dantes is doing well to control the position and prevent Cop from advancing to side control.
Dantes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cop must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dantes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cop is one step ahead there.

Dantes has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cop off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Dantes drives through with a takedown into guard.

Dantes seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cop for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Edmund Dantes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Cop fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dantes sprawls well initially but Cop persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dantes keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Dantes works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dantes is pulling down on Cop's head. It's preventing any offense from Cop, at least for the moment.
Dantes manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Cop is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dantes takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Dantes moves to back control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cop is trying to stand. He's onto all fours with Dantes on his back. Dantes looks like he's slipping off but he's actually tansitioning to a beautiful armbar! Cop has to tap out to a very impressive submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Edmund Dantes!
Edmund Dantes really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that $10 logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
