Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyrese Banks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georgius St Pierra! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pierra pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pierra tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Banks was well out of range. Poor timing from Pierra. Pierra is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Banks.
It looks like Georgius St Pierra has been cut. Pierra throws a predictable looking body shot
and Banks counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Pierra lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. A big left from Pierra misses. Pierra lands a front kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pierra dodges the punch combination from Banks.
Pierra throws a sloppy head kick and Banks moves out of range easily. Pierra throws a quick inside leg kick. Pierra fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Banks. A slow jab from Pierra misses its intended target. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Banks checks a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pierra rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Banks moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Pierra throws a right and a left that both miss. Georgius St Pierra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pierra tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A big right from Pierra misses. A shot to the body from Pierra misses and Banks counters with a series of strikes. Pierra will be more careful next time no doubt. Pierra showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Banks.
Pierra throws an overhand right that lands on Banks's shoulder, as Banks tries to avoid the shot. Banks throws a right and a left that both miss. Banks dodges the punch combination from Pierra.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pierra pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pierra swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Horrible takedown by Banks or perhaps it was just good defense by Pierra which made him look bad. Pierra misses with a low kick. Pierra throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
A right-left combo lands from Pierra. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A slapping leg kick lands for Pierra.
Banks looks to land a combination but Pierra avoids it well. Banks blocks a head kick by Pierra.
Pierra lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice uppercut lands for Pierra. That snapped Banks's head back.
That kick from Pierra tenderised Banks's leg. Banks is trying to keep his angry face on. Banks checks a leg kick. Pierra lands with a thumping leg kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Pierra misses the target. Pierra throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Pierra bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Pierra misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pierra misses with a looping right. Banks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Banks misses with a wild combination.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Banks. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Pierra tries to bench press Banks off him but Banks keeps the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pierra is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Banks has just dragged him back down to the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pierra tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Banks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Banks is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Pierra is trying to escape and Banks transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Pierra is forced to tap! Nice work there by Banks! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tyrese Banks! Tyrese Banks was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
