PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Pitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nick Fury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Pitt!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pitt looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Fury misses with a two punch combination.
Pitt swinging wildly here.

Fury closes the distance and pushes Pitt back into the cage.
Pitt is trying to pull guard but Fury turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Pitt lands a left hand that snaps the head of Fury backwards.
Fury presses Pitt against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Pitt jumps guard and drags Fury to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Pitt keeping moving, preventing Fury from controlling successfully.

Pitt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fury gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pitt is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fury pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pitt is keeping the position for now.

Pitt looking for a guillotine here but Fury defends easily.
Fury trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fury chips away with some ground and pound.
Pitt manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fury tries to hold on but Pitt postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fury holds on for dear life.
Fury wants to hold on but Pitt pushes him away.
Fury is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pitt stands up from mount. Strange move.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pitt fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Fury on the side of the head.
Pitt blocks a head kick by Fury.
Pitt throws a head kick that misses.
A cross from Pitt lands.
Fury on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Pitt. Pitt obviously looking to wear him down.
Pitt throws a sloppy head kick and Fury moves out of range easily.
Pitt dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Fury. That did some damage!
Pitt takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pitt throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fury throws a series of punches but Pitt moves out of range.
Fury moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Fury fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pitt on the side of the head.
Fury is looking to clinch but Pitt is avoiding it.

Fury drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fury wants to control from the top but Pitt keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fury looking to sit in guard and control but Pitt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Fury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fury looking to control but Pitt passes into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pitt is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jake Pitt will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Fury swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Fury attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Pitt throws a nice head kick!
Fury avoids a punch combination nicely.
A nice combination there by Fury.


Pitt is rocked!
Pitt misses with a body kick.
Fury gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sloppy strikes from Pitt. Those never looked like landing.
Fury closes the distance and clinches up with Pitt, looking for a takedown. Fury pushes Pitt against the cage but Pitt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Donk. Fury catches Pitt right on the button with a cross.
Fury throws a shot to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Pitt. Those never looked like landing.
Fury slips a jab from Pitt.
Fury tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pitt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pitt has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Fury.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fury fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pitt tries to work over Fury's front leg with a kick but Fury checks it.
Nick Fury seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pitt walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Pitt is still on wobbly legs! Can Fury finish him?
Pitt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nick Fury is winning the standup battle so far.
A left and a right from Pitt both land. Nice combination.
Fury measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Pitt! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Nick Fury!
