Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Locke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Mercier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Locke comes to the cage accompanied by The State Of Massachusetts - Dropkick Murphys. Michael Locke has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Locke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Dexter Mercier!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercier looks to score with a jab to the body but Locke is just out of range.
Dexter Mercier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Mercier, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mercier tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Locke was well out of range. Poor timing from Mercier.
Locke goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Mercier throws a body punch but Locke moves out of range.
Locke uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mercier.
Mercier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Locke manages to avoid it.
Mercier cracks Locke with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Mercier goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Mercier rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Locke moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Locke avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mercier paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Mercier throws a shot from downtown. Locke moves away and avoids it.
Mercier throws a series of punches but Locke avoids them all with ease.
Locke keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mercier tries to bum rush Locke with a series of wild strikes but Locke uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mercier scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
The fighters circle momentarily. Mercier darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Locke shoots in looking for a takedown. Mercier tries to sprawl out of it but Locke keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mercier manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dexter Mercier is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Locke throws a front kick aimed at Mercier's knee but Mercier avoids it well.
Mercier throws a looping overhand right but Locke ducks down to avoid it.

Mercier bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Locke's head backwards.

A punch lands to the side of Locke 's head but he takes it in his stride.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mercier is trying to stand up here but Locke is controlling him well.

Locke is looking to take a break and control but Mercier is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Locke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Locke goes for an armbar but Mercier turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mercier.

Mercier got a little sloppy there for a moment and Locke has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mercier has managed to get both his arms back between Locke's legs - danger averted.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mercier can do anything to dispel that myth.

Locke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mercier is just riding it out for now. Locke eventually gives up the hold.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
