Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nawal Chekhemani! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eikichi Onizuka! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Franklyn Lucas and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Onizuka is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chekhemani's half guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Onizuka working Chekhemani over with strikes. Chekhemani missing with punches from the bottom.
Chekhemani might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Onizuka not landing any meaningful shots this time. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Onizuka lands a nice short elbow. Chekhemani is pressing down on Onizuka's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Chekhemani looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Onizuka makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Chekhemani wants to sweep but no luck. Chekhemani trying to control the position.
Chekhemani working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Onizuka. Chekhemani not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Onizuka is working Chekhemani over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Onizuka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Onizuka content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Chekhemani has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Onizuka trying to control but Chekhemani is working from the bottom. Onizuka content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Chekhemani has locked up a guillotine! Chekhemani's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Onizuka is holding on here and Chekhemani must be using up a lot of energy. Onizuka has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Chekhemani gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
