Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kaheo Labasan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Kord (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ted Kord! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Labasan misses with a wild combination.
Kord shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Labasan is trying to defend but Kord finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Labasan is trying to stand up here but Kord is controlling him well. Kord lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Labasan pushes Kord off looking to stand but Kord dives back in and keeps control.
Labasan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kord's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kord's back! Kord defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Labasan's arms. Kord avoids the strikes from Labasan. Labasan is throwing strikes by Kord counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Kord regains half guard. Kord has one foot on Labasan's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Labasan is breathing heavily. Labasan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Labasan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kord moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Labasan throws a right hand that Kord ducks under and follows up with a left that Kord also avoids with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Kord. Labasan wants to get back to his feet but Kord drags him back down. Kord lands a decent elbow from side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kord cracks Labasan with a big elbow. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Labasan is looking for a sweep. Labasan tries to escape but Kord is in control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kord is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Labasan will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Kord lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Labasan down.

Kord might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Labasan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Labasan is looking to reverse the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kord content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Labasan is not content to let Kord control the position. Kord prevents Labasan from escaping the position. Kord wants to lay and pray for a moment but Labasan keeps working. Kord looking to control but instead Labasan has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Labasan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kord is working away from the top position though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ted Kord has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Labasan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Ted Kord will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A combination from Labasan does no damage. Labasan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kord paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kord looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Labasan! Kord controlling from the full mount. Labasan tries to hold on but Kord postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kord postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Labasan looks a forlorn figure.

That's one minute gone in the round. You get the feeling that Labasan really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Kord looking to control but Labasan is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Labasan tries to get back to half guard but can't. Labasan gets back to half guard. Kord prevents Labasan from standing back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Labasan kicks Kord off and gets back to his feet. Kaheo Labasan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. No joy there for Labasan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Labasan moves in looking to clinch but Kord pushes him off. Labasan tries to clinch but Kord moves out of range. Kaheo Labasan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Labasan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Labasan misses with a double jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Labasan throws a right and a left that both miss. Labasan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kord moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Labasan gets caught napping as Kord dives in and scores a takedown. Labasan manages to retain guard. Kord must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kord sitting in guard, not really doing much. Kord won't allow Labasan to get back to his feet. Kord trying to control but Labasan is working from the bottom. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ted Kord. Kord shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Labasan pinned against the cage. Labasan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kord misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Labasan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kord circles away quickly and effectively. A combination from Labasan does no damage. Labasan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Labasan breaks from the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kord swats away the attempt to clinch by Labasan. Labasan fails with an attempt to clinch.

Kord has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Labasan has closed the distance and engaged Kord in a clinch.
Kord wants to stall.
Labasan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Labasan is looking to clinch. Labasan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Ted Kord will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Labasan moves to clinch but Kord breaks away and Kord counters with a nice double leg into guard. Kord pushing down on Labasan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Labasan is trying to stand.
Still in half guard, Kord seems content to control. Kord is stalling here. Labasan is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kord seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Labasan has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. This has been an exciting period of action! Labasan connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kord some visible discomfort.
Ted Kord has got the better of the ground game so far.

Labasan tries to get to his feet but Kord is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Labasan in his guard. Labasan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kord preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Labasan passes easily into side control. Nice work. Labasan decides to take the fight back to the feet. Labasan scores with a three punch combo!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kord shoots in but no luck this time. Labasan tries to bum rush Kord with a series of wild strikes but Kord uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Labasan throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Labasan misses with a wild combination.
Labasan forces Kord back against the cage and clinches. Kaheo Labasan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kord prevents Labasan from breaking the clinch. Labasan lands a right hand that snaps the head of Kord backwards. Labasan lands a left hand.

Labasan tries to clinch and Kord counters with a shoot takedown. Labasan fights it but they end up in guard. Labasan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kord is controlling him. Labasan throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kaheo Labasan. I think Kord has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
