PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Raf Gon DIas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carter Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gon DIas comes to the cage accompanied by Before I Forget. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Raf Gon DIas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carter Martin!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin throws a series of punches but Gon DIas moves out of range.
Martin avoids the head kick by Gon DIas.
Martin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Gon DIas forces Martin back against the cage and clinches.

Martin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gon DIas shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Martin eats them both and turns towards Gon DIas to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
A swing and a miss from Martin.
Gon DIas uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Martin.
Martin takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Donk. Martin catches Gon DIas right on the button with a cross.


It looks like Raf Gon DIas has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gon DIas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gon DIas lands with a hook. Martin tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Gon DIas fails to land with a series of punches.
Martin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gon DIas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Martin misses the shot to the body.

Gon DIas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Martin, pushing him back against the cage.
Gon DIas is trying to break free.
Martin is trying to stall.
Gon DIas is trying to push Martin away but Martin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Martin has Gon DIas pressed against the cage, preventing Gon DIas from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Martin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Martin breaks the clinch.
Martin misses with a hook
and Gon DIas counters with a two punch combo.
Sloppy strikes from Martin. Those never looked like landing.
Carter Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gon DIas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carter Martin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Martin swings for the body but Gon DIas moves out of range.
Martin missing with a left hand there. Gon DIas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gon DIas tries to clinch but Martin is having none of it.
Gon DIas is looking to clinch but Martin is avoiding it.
Gon DIas throws a head kick that misses.
Martin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gon DIas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Martin sprawls well. Martin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gon DIas gets slowly back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Martin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Martin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gon DIas swats away the attempt to clinch by Martin.
Gon DIas throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Martin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Martin misses with an uppercut. Gon DIas saw that one coming.
Gon DIas looks to score with a jab to the body but Martin is just out of range.
Gon DIas avoids a punch combination nicely.
Martin ducks right into an uppercut from Gon DIas.
Gon DIas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Martin manages to avoid it.
Gon DIas drops his hands momentarily and Martin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Martin throws a shot from downtown. Gon DIas moves away and avoids it.
Gon DIas cracks Martin with a right hand to the side of the head.
Gon DIas throws a good cross that connects.
Martin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gon DIas.

Martin misses with a looping left.
Gon DIas drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A head kick misses from Gon DIas.
Gon DIas misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gon DIas keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gon DIas lands a nice leg kick that just misses Martin's sensitive parts.
Gon DIas throws a nice looking combination but Martin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gon DIas avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Martin lands with an overhand left.
Gon DIas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A slapping leg kick lands for Gon DIas.
Gon DIas dives in and grabs Martin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Martin pushes down on Gon DIas's head and hops out.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Martin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Martin misses with an uppercut

and Gon DIas counters with a takedown into side control.
Martin is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gon DIas tries to stand but Martin is controlling his head.
Martin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Martin can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gon DIas tries to stand but can't do so whilst Martin controls his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Raf Gon DIas will probably get the nod.

Martin keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Martin throws a right hand that Gon DIas ducks under and follows up with a left that Gon DIas also avoids with ease.
Raf Gon DIas is winning the standup battle so far.
Martin missing with a left hand there. Gon DIas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Martin lands the left hand.
Gon DIas tries to clinch up.
Martin looks to score with a jab to the body but Gon DIas is just out of range.

Martin clinches up with Gon DIas and pushes him back against the cage.
Martin is trying to pull guard but Gon DIas turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Martin prevents Gon DIas from breaking the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Martin as the two fighters clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gon DIas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Martin swings for the body but Gon DIas moves out of range.
Left hook, right uppercut from Gon DIas.
Gon DIas throws a sloppy head kick and Martin moves out of range easily.

Martin drops Gon DIas with a beautiful combination! Gon DIas stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Martin is looking for the KO!


Gon DIas is rocked!
Gon DIas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Martin tries to avoid it but Gon DIas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Martin to the ground. Martin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Oh Gon DIas is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Martin connects with a body shot that sends Gon DIas's belly button to the back.
Gon DIas seems to have got his legs back now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gon DIas throws a head kick but Martin moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A lazy left from Martin finds it's target.


Raf Gon DIas's cut is getting worse.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Martin! Gon DIas is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carter Martin!
A relieved looking Carter Martin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
