Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stu Pitt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, George St Pierre! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Pierre works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. St Pierre tries for a takedown but Pitt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. St Pierre shoots in and bounces Pitt off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. St Pierre wants to control from the top but Pitt keeps moving. Pitt seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Pitt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. St Pierre manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pitt advances position into side control! Pitt stands up and beckons St Pierre to his feet. St Pierre thows a body shot but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre shoots in for a takedown but Pitt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Pitt uses good head movement to avoid the hook from St Pierre. Pitt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
St Pierre moves out of range of the strikes. Pitt stuffs the takedown attempt from St Pierre. St Pierre gets slowly back to his feet. Stu Pitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George St Pierre. Pitt lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. St Pierre misses with a body shot.

Nice shot lands for Pitt. Pitt lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. St Pierre shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. St Pierre looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pitt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pitt is concentrating on defense, preventing St Pierre from advancing position. St Pierre is nestled in close to Pitt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. St Pierre is trying to control. Pitt wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. St Pierre not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Pitt wants to control but St Pierre is keeping busy and won't allow it. St Pierre thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. St Pierre throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pitt tries to roll over but St Pierre keeps him under control. St Pierre throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Pitt to regain full guard. Pitt is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. St Pierre looking to pass the guard. Pitt wants to sweep here but St Pierre controlling him for the moment. Pitt is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pitt preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Pitt keeping moving, preventing St Pierre from controlling successfully. St Pierre postures up.

We're going to have a standup here because Stu Pitt wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. St Pierre takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Pitt keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from St Pierre. St Pierre tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pitt was well out of range. Poor timing from St Pierre. Horrible takedown by St Pierre or perhaps it was just good defense by Pitt which made him look bad. Pitt with a hook. St Pierre ducks right into an uppercut from Pitt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pitt tries to clinch but fails miserably letting St Pierre counter with a right hand. St Pierre checks a leg kick. Pitt drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pitt moves out of range as St Pierre strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Stu Pitt will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Pitt throws a leg kick but St Pierre sees it coming and checks it nicely. St Pierre misses the shot to the body. Pitt throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. St Pierre stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Pitt thows a body shot but no joy. Pitt avoids a lazy jab quite easily. St Pierre scores with a nice head shot. Pitt doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Stu Pitt is winning the standup battle so far. St Pierre misses with a straight left. St Pierre throws a body punch but Pitt moves out of range. Pitt uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by St Pierre.
St Pierre thows a body shot but no joy. St Pierre fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pitt manages to avoid it. Pitt fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre has a takedown stuffed. St Pierre jabbing away but nothing is landing. Pitt with a hook. St Pierre misses with a wild body shot. St Pierre throws a hook but Pitt blocks it. St Pierre misses with a wild body shot. St Pierre takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A looping hook to the body misses from St Pierre. Pitt does a little dance to reset his feet. Pitt throws a hook to the side of St Pierre's head but St Pierre sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Pitt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
St Pierre ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pitt moves away. St Pierre fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Pitt connects with a leg kick. St Pierre looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. St Pierre walks into a left hand. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A slow jab from Pitt misses its intended target. St Pierre fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pitt looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. St Pierre lands a body shot.
A decent looking cross lands there for St Pierre. Pitt is looking to chop away at St Pierre's legs. St Pierre pushing out the jab but it's not landing. St Pierre moves away from the strike by Pitt. St Pierre throws out a token jab with nothing on it. St Pierre blocks the body kick.
St Pierre lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
St Pierre throws a lazy right hand but Pitt sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. St Pierre walks into a stiff left hand from Pitt.

St Pierre is still on wobbly legs! Can Pitt finish him? Pitt lands a nice uppercut. Pitt unloads a knee to the mid-section. St Pierre lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Pitt jerks St Pierre's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! St Pierre drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Pitt goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Pitt because St Pierre was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
