Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bert Ernie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Miguel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bert Ernie has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Bert Ernie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Miguel!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miguel fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Horrible takedown by Miguel or perhaps it was just good defense by Ernie which made him look bad.

Miguel clinches with his opponent.
Ernie gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Miguel.
Bert Ernie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Miguel.

Miguel gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Ernie is trying to maintain the position but Miguel is very close to passing his half guard.
Miguel tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Ernie holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Miguel seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Miguel is trying to control the action in half guard but Ernie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ernie tries to get to full guard but Miguel has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ernie looks for a takedown but Miguel sprawls well.
Ernie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Miguel but Miguel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ernie keeps the fight on the outside.

Miguel gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Ernie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Miguel wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Ernie blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Miguel has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ernie avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Ernie is trying to drag Miguel to the mat but Miguel just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ernie is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Miguel is defending well.
Miguel scores a nice knee to the body.

Miguel jumps guard and drags Ernie to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Ernie tries to free his leg and advance position but Miguel is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bert Ernie just wasn't active enough.
Miguel tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ernie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ernie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ernie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Miguel sees it coming and defends easily.
Miguel is looking for a sweep. Ernie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Miguel is trying to control but can't.
Ernie prevents Miguel from standing back up.
Miguel tries to get to full guard but Ernie has control of the leg.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ernie in particular looking to stall.

Ernie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ernie is just content to waste time from the top position. Miguel takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ernie postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sam Miguel will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ernie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Miguel counters with a head kick.
Ernie shoots in looking for a takedown but Miguel manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ernie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Miguel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ernie counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ernie doesn't manage to clinch there - Miguel circles away.
Miguel tries to close the distance and clinch but Ernie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fighters are battling for position here. Miguel manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Miguel wants to stand and escape but Ernie is having none of it.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Ernie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miguel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Miguel wants to get back to his feet but Ernie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Ernie wants to pass the guard but Miguel is keeping the position.
Ernie looking to sit in guard and control but Miguel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Miguel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Miguel is looking to clinch but Ernie is avoiding it.
Ernie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Sam Miguel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Bert Ernie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Miguel is trying to keep Ernie in close.
Miguel is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Miguel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Miguel is trying to pull guard but Ernie turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ernie drops down looking for an ankle pick but Miguel pulls his leg out and moves away.

Miguel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Miguel lands a few punches from side control.
Ernie is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Miguel has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Miguel tries to score with some ground and pound. Ernie controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Miguel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ernie to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Miguel drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Miguel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ernie works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Miguel wants to control from the top but Ernie keeps moving.
Ernie is looking to stand up but Miguel isn't so interested in that idea.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sam Miguel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Miguel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
