The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benn missing with a left hand there. Suokas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Benn misses with an uppercut. Suokas saw that one coming.
A left lands for Suokas.
Suokas throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

and Suokas counters with a stiff right hand.

It looks like Viljo Suokas has been cut.
Benn is looking to chop away at Suokas's legs.
Suokas jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Benn throws a head kick but Suokas moves out of range.

Suokas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Benn paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Suokas lands a big head kick that sends Benn tumbling to the mat! Suokas takes a step backwards and waves Benn back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Suokas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Benn to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Suokas wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Suokas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Benn throws a big shot that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Suokas bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Suokas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Benn.

Benn drops his hands momentarily and Suokas takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Suokas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Benn throws out the jab.

Suokas slaps away a takedown attempt from Benn, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Suokas connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Suokas lands a left and a right that send Benn crashing to the mat, dazed. Suokas thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
