Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Akira Kurosawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kurosawa might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to War drums. On his way into the cage it seems that Akira Kurosawa has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Akira Kurosawa seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurosawa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Johnson blocks a jab.
Kurosawa scores with a sloppy right hand. Johnson should have avoided that one.
Kurosawa bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Johnson's head backwards.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kurosawa paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Johnson throws a front kick that sends Kurosawa stumbling back into the cage.

Johnson pushes off an throws an elbow but Kurosawa leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Johnson just misses with a elbow thrown towards Kurosawa's brow.
Johnson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Kurosawa lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Johnson creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Kurosawa is retaining full guard.

Kurosawa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

With the fighters up against the cage, Johnson throws an elbow but misses.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Kurosawa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Johnson walks away with a smile on his face. Kurosawa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kurosawa throws a lazy right hand but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kurosawa misses with a wild combination.
Kurosawa sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Akira Kurosawa will probably get the nod.

Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kurosawa is controlling him.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Kurosawa postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kurosawa, into his guard.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kurosawa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Kurosawa's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Akira Kurosawa.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kurosawa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
