Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Destin Lovett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Davis! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis wants to clinch up but Lovett keeps it at a distance. Lovett looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Davis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lovett as he jumps to the side. No luck for Lovett with that takedown attempt. Davis misses with a head kick.
Lovett fails with the takedown. Davis shoots in for a double leg but Lovett sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. No joy there for Davis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Davis tries for a takedown but Lovett sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Destin Lovett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Davis. Davis tries to clinch but Lovett is having none of it. Davis closes the distance and pushes Lovett back into the cage. Davis gets control of Lovett's arms and successfully pulls guard. Davis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Davis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lovett is controlling him. Lovett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground. Davis lands an upkick as Lovett stands over him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lovett is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Davis has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Lovett is looking to defend but Davis has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Lovett! Davis pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Lovett taps out and this one is all over!
