The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dawson's guard.
Howard seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Howard decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Howard fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dawson checks it well.
Howard closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dawson quickly recovers to half guard.
Howard takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Dawson tries to roll over but Howard keeps him under control.
Howard is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Let's hope that Howard has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Howard connects with a nice short shot to Dawson's temple.

Howard uses his free foot to push down on Dawson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dawson.

Well Howard has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
