Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Olivier Denis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrew Benavidez!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Denis scores with a takedown into Benavidez's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Benavidez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Benavidez wants to sweep but no luck.
Denis controls from within his opponent's guard.
Benavidez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Denis manages to get himself to full guard.
Benavidez slips nicely into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Benavidez wants to advance to full mount but Denis doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Benavidez wants to control from the top but Denis keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Benavidez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Denis manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Benavidez has Denis in his guard.
Denis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Denis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Benavidez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Denis has managed to get both his arms back between Benavidez's legs - danger averted.
Benavidez keeping moving, preventing Denis from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Benavidez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Denis's guard.
Benavidez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Benavidez wants to pass the guard but Denis is keeping the position.
Denis wants to stand and escape but Benavidez is having none of it.
Benavidez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Benavidez tries to stand but Denis is controlling from the bottom.
Benavidez trying to control but Denis is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Olivier Denis wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Benavidez has Denis up against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Denis gets a trip takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Denis throws a knee to the head but misses.
A bit of stalling here from Denis.

Denis has Benavidez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Denis pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Benavidez tumbling to the mat - Denis dives into Benavidez's guard.
Andrew Benavidez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Denis wants to stand but Benavidez is controlling his posture from full guard.

Benavidez is looking to stand up but Denis isn't so interested in that idea.
Benavidez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Denis's guard.
Benavidez trying to control the position from guard on top but Denis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Andrew Benavidez.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Benavidez checks a leg kick.

Benavidez moves into range and clinches up with Denis.

Denis gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Benavidez trying to keep a closed guard but Denis is proving a slippery customer.
Benavidez wants to sweep here but Denis controlling him for the moment.

Benavidez looking for a triangle here. Denis is fighting it but it looks tight! Benavidez pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Denis is tapping out - this one is all over!
