Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Maverick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander Mixmaster! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maverick keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Maverick changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mixmaster looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mixmaster striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Mixmaster is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Maverick is one step ahead and moves to full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maverick sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Maverick throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Mixmaster because Maverick loaded up on that one. Mixmaster avoids a series of strikes thrown by Maverick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Maverick throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Mixmaster because Maverick loaded up on that one. Mixmaster wants to hold on but Maverick pushes him away. Mixmaster might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Maverick kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Maverick prevents Mixmaster from getting the reversal. Maverick thowing shots but they're missing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mixmaster is desperately trying to improve his position but Maverick has a good base and remains in mount. Maverick postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mixmaster looks a forlorn figure.
Mixmaster is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mixmaster is looking to improve his position but Maverick isn't that keen on the idea. Mixmaster tries to lock up and control but Maverick gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Mixmaster manages to control the position for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Mixmaster working to try and regain half guard.
Mixmaster looks gassed! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mixmaster wants to control but Maverick is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Maverick dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Maverick lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mixmaster will feel that in the morning. Jack Maverick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mixmaster misses with a takedown and Maverick counters with a single leg into guard. Mixmaster didn't expect that. Mixmaster controls Maverick momentarily but Maverick frees himself. Mixmaster is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Mixmaster escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maverick gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Mixmaster is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maverick makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Maverick throwing strikes but missing. Mixmaster throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Maverick throws and elbow that misses. Mixmaster uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Maverick's guard. Nice move by Mixmaster! Mixmaster stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maverick swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mixmaster with a lazy takedown attempt and Maverick counters with an inside leg kick. Maverick throws a head kick that Mixmaster semi-blocks.
Mixmaster with a poor takedown and Maverick counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Jack Maverick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Mixmaster. Maverick shoots in and bounces Mixmaster off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Maverick is standing up over Mixmaster. Mixmaster looks to escape but Maverick dives into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mixmaster on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Maverick cracks Mixmaster with a big right hand but Mixmaster just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Mixmaster sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Mixmaster moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Mixmaster working a defensive guard here.
Maverick prevents Mixmaster from getting back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Mixmaster looking for a guillotine here but Maverick defends easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Maverick dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Mixmaster wants to clinch. Maverick will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Maverick fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mixmaster sprawls well initially but Maverick persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Mixmaster blocking the ground and pound attempt from Maverick. Mixmaster trying to control but Maverick postures up.
Mixmaster tries to get to full guard but Maverick has control of the leg. Mixmaster has one foot on Maverick's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mixmaster doesn't manage to clinch there - Maverick circles away.
Maverick avoids a punch combination nicely.

Alexander Mixmaster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Maverick!

and Maverick counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Mixmaster is lucky that one didn't land flush. Maverick throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mixmaster tries for a takedown but Maverick circles away easily and Maverick counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mixmaster won't be happy with that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maverick cracks Mixmaster with a big elbow. Maverick scoring with punches and elbows. Mixmaster tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mixmaster is trying to buck Maverick off. Maverick working the head and body with strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mixmaster is looking to get back to his feet here but Maverick is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mixmaster's back. Maverick connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Mixmaster to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mixmaster is trying desperately to improve position. Mixmaster wants to hold on but Maverick pushes him away. Mixmaster is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mixmaster is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Maverick showed his dominance in that final round. Well Maverick has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
