Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carl Chan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Juan Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ramirez napping and manages to drive through into side control! We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ramirez trying his best to control but Chan has mounted him. Chan punching from mount but Ramirez doing a good job of avoiding damage. Chan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ramirez is looking to escape. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ramirez can do anything to dispel that myth. Chan throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Chan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chan misses with a head shot. Ramirez really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Ramirez wants to control but Chan is having none of it. Chan misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Chan wants to get back to his feet but Ramirez is holding on tight.
Ramirez reaches up and holds on to Chan to control the position. Ramirez throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Ramirez really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez tries to hold on but Chan postures up. Chan throws some wild stikes that Ramirez manages to avoid easily.

Ramirez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Chan looking to control but Ramirez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Chan has control of Ramirez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ramirez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Chan prevents Ramirez from getting the reversal. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chan feints and as Ramirez raises his hands in defense, Chan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ramirez looking for a sweep. Not yet Ramirez, not yet. Chan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramirez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Chan throws a big right hand that misses. Ramirez keeping moving, preventing Chan from controlling successfully. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Carl Chan. Chan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Chan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Chan goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ramirez is on top in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez lands a couple of decent looking shots. Ramirez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chan is keeping the position for now. Ramirez landing with the ground and pound. Ramirez lands a couple of digs. Ramirez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramirez lands a couple of elbows. Chan has his hands on Ramirez's head, controlling the position. Chan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ramirez is one step ahead there. Chan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Ramirez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez landing some decent shots from guard. Ramirez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chan works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ramirez postures up.

Ramirez wants to control from the top but Chan keeps moving. Ramirez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Chan looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ramirez passes into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ramirez stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Ramirez tries to clinch but Chan is having none of it. Chan explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Chan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ramirez to the mat! Ramirez manages to get full guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ramirez tries to land a sweep but no joy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ramirez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Chan manages to get himself to full guard.
Ramirez is pushing down on Chan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Chan is fighting to maintain full guard but Ramirez has managed to sneak the leg through. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Ramirez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Ramirez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Chan takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Chan is rocked! Ramirez looks up at the clock and then as Chan takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ramirez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Oh Chan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ramirez cracks Chan with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Ramirez immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Chan is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Ramirez!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Ramirez! Juan Ramirez decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
