Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arron Gillespie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gillespie comes to the cage accompanied by Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows Scream If You're Crazy. Ruiz has chosen jukebox hero as his entrance music. Justin Ruiz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arron Gillespie! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Justin Ruiz! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gillespie quickly recovers to half guard. Ruiz stops Gillespie from getting back to his feet.
Ruiz trying to control the action but Gillespie is working from the bottom. Gillespie wants to get back to his feet.
Well, if Ruiz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Ruiz working the head and body with strikes. Ruiz is looking to advance position but Gillespie won't allow it.

Ruiz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gillespie keeps working. Ruiz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gillespie's head. Ruiz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Gillespie keeping moving, preventing Ruiz from controlling successfully. Ruiz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Gillespie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ruiz with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Gillespie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gillespie is working an open guard so Ruiz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Ruiz looks to score with a jab to the body but Gillespie is just out of range. A momentary lapse in concentration from Gillespie enables Ruiz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gillespie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Ruiz wants to control from the top but Gillespie keeps moving. Gillespie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gillespie is breathing heavily. Ruiz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ruiz working some strikes from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Gillespie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ruiz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ruiz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gillespie works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ruiz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Gillespie will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. It looks like Ruiz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ruiz wanted to stand there but Gillespie had control of the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ruiz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ruiz content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Gillespie uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ruiz's guard. Nice move by Gillespie! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruiz is pulling down on Gillespie's head. It's preventing any offense from Gillespie, at least for the moment.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Justin Ruiz wasn't active enough on the ground. Ruiz looks to land a combination but Gillespie avoids it well. Gillespie scores with a jab to the body. Gillespie swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ruiz shoots in and drives through. Gillespie sprawls well. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gillespie swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gillespie looks to clinch and Ruiz counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Ruiz slows the pace down in half guard. Gillespie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ruiz. Gillespie blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ruiz. Ruiz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gillespie defending well though. Ruiz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Ruiz throwing shots but Gillespie is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gillespie regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ruiz. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ruiz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Ruiz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gillespie swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ruiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Gillespie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ruiz throwing strikes but missing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Ruiz counters with a nice double leg into guard. Ruiz wants to control from the top but Gillespie keeps moving. Ruiz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ruiz has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ruiz stands up over Gillespie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Ruiz trying to control but Gillespie is working from the bottom. Ruiz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Ruiz pushing down on Gillespie's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gillespie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ruiz.

He catches Gillespie napping and manages to drive through into side control! Ruiz is looking to take a break and control but Gillespie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ruiz in side control, throwing shots but Gillespie defends. Ruiz creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gillespie sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. The strikes coming from Ruiz are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Ruiz working the ground and pound. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Ruiz lands a decent elbow from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ruiz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ruiz misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Oh Gillespie is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ruiz postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Gillespie covers up, he's hurt! Ruiz keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Ruiz and the ref steps in to end the fight! Ruiz can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
