Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Ricardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Ricardo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ricardo gets a double leg takedown into Gracie's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ricardo stops Gracie from standing up.
Ricardo advances to half guard.
Ricardo working the head and body with strikes.
Ricardo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ricardo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gracie is trying to get back to full guard.
Gracie wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ricardo stands up from half guard.

Ricardo gets a double leg takedown into Gracie's guard.
Gracie has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ricardo has passed into side control.
Ricardo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.

A lull in the action here.

Ricardo decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gracie to his feet.

Ricardo pushes Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.
Gracie is looking to take this one to the mat.
Gracie looks gassed!
Gracie has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Ricardo breaks from the clinch.
Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ricardo swivels and escapes.

Ricardo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Ricardo finishes the takedown easily into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ricardo stands and steps away. Gracie gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ricardo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gracie napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ricardo stands up and beckons Gracie to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gracie enables Ricardo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gracie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Ricardo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ricardo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gracie for as long as he can get away with.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ricardo wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.

Paulo Ricardo has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Gracie closes the distance looking to clinch
and Ricardo counters with a nice kick to the body.
Ricardo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Ricardo.

Ricardo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Ricardo's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ricardo working some strikes from top position.

Ricardo decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gracie, up you get!
Andre Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ricardo.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gracie tries to improve position but can't.

Ricardo decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gracie to his feet.
Gracie has his takedown stuffed

so Ricardo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Paulo Ricardo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Gracie.

Gracie throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ricardo uses it to pass to side control.
Ricardo advances nicely into full mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ricardo has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gracie's face.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee warns Gracie that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Gracie's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paulo Ricardo dominated that round.
That's time! Ricardo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Ricardo clinches up against the cage.

Ricardo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Ricardo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Gracie misses with a body punch.
Gracie wants a takedown but no success here.
Gracie is working for takedown but Ricardo is calmly controlling the position for now.
Gracie is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Paulo Ricardo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Gracie.
Ricardo will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Gracie up against the cage.
Gracie wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ricardo has him pressed against the cage.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Gracie tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ricardo stalling in the clinch.

Ricardo wants the takedown. Gracie is fighting it off but Ricardo persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gracie's guard against the cage.
Ricardo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around?

Ricardo stands and steps away. Gracie gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ricardo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ricardo gets the takedown into side control.

Ricardo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.

Ricardo decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Ricardo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gracie is trying to defend but Ricardo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gracie is looking for a sweep. Ricardo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gracie is looking to escape.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ricardo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gracie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ricardo controlling the action here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paulo Ricardo wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Ricardo closes the distance and pushes Gracie back into the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Ricardo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gracie can't fight it off and eventually Ricardo manages to take the fight to the floor. Gracie looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gracie looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Ricardo has picked Gracie up and slammed him! Gracie can't keep hold of the triangle and Ricardo manages to pass to side control!
Gracie is looking for a sweep.

Ricardo lands an elbow.
Gracie is looking to regain half guard here but Ricardo keeps moving and retains side control.
Ricardo trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.

Ricardo is trying to get an arm triangle but Gracie is defending well.

Ricardo stands up.
Ricardo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gracie has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A thudding body kick lands there by Ricardo!
Ricardo throws a wild body kick that Gracie sees coming a mile off.

Ricardo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gracie napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gracie is trying to improve his position.

Ricardo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ricardo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gracie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gracie wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paulo Ricardo dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Gracie tries for a takedown but Ricardo circles away easily

and Ricardo counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Ricardo's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Ricardo pulls Gracie into guard.
Gracie stands and throws Ricardo's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ricardo tries to improve position but can't.
Gracie throws a strike aimed at the side of Ricardo's head but Ricardo avoids it well.
Gracie misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Gracie trying to control the action but Ricardo is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ricardo can't do much from the bottom here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ricardo's legs.
Ricardo is trying to control Gracie's posture but Gracie avoids it.

Gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ricardo struggling a bit here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ricardo tries to bench press Gracie off him but Gracie keeps the position.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ricardo tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.
Ricardo is trying to control Gracie's posture but Gracie avoids it.
Ricardo tries to bench press Gracie off him but Gracie keeps the position.

Gracie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Ricardo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Ricardo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gracie is looking to stand up but Ricardo won't let him.
Ricardo wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Ricardo keeps moving.
Ricardo trying to strike off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie wants to stand and escape but instead Ricardo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gracie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ricardo controls the pace.
Andre Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ricardo passes into side control.
Gracie tries to improve position but can't.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Paulo Ricardo.
Well Ricardo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
