PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Sully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sero Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sully comes to the cage accompanied by I See You. Kim is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I lost because of hiddens!!!. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Sully! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Sero Kim! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sully looks to score with a jab to the body but Kim is just out of range. Kim keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Kim fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sully manages to avoid it. Sully sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Sully closes the distance and pushes Kim back into the cage. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Sully pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Sully misses with a hook. Kim ducked under it nicely. Kim cracks Sully with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Kim moves into the clinch. Sully tries to break free but Kim pushes him back against the cage. Sully breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sully tries to work over Kim's front leg with a kick but Kim checks it. The fight stays on the outside here - Sully looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kim takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sully throws a leg kick that misses. Jake Sully seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sully takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Sully tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kim swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kim closes the distance and pushes Sully back into the cage. Kim blocks the elbow strike.
Kim scores with a shot to the side of Sully's head. Sully struggles to land a body shot inside as Kim controls his hands.
Sully is trying to break the clinch but Kim has him pressed against the cage. Sully struggles to land a body shot inside as Kim controls his hands.
Kim utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Kim breaks the clinch.
Sully tries to clinch up. A swing and a miss from Sully. Sully misses with a series of wild punches.
Kim connects with an inside leg kick. Sully misses with a looping right. Sully changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kim tries to avoid it but Sully manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kim to the ground. Kim escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kim works Sully's body with a nice hook. This has been an exciting period of action! Kim changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Kim misses the jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kim gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sully to score an easy takedown into full guard. Kim bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sully's guard. Kim landing some decent shots from guard. Kim missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kim in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kim working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kim loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kim distracts Sully with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Sully had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kim defends it easily. Sully is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kim defends well. Kim trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kim trying to control but Sully is working from the bottom. Sully working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kim. Kim slips nicely into half guard. Kim sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sully defending well though. Kim prevents Sully from improving his position. Kim not landing any meaningful shots this time. Kim thows a huge punch but Sully dodges it nicely.
Sully is looking to control Kim's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sully avoid being mounted? Kim thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sully's head. Kim thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sully's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sully avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kim. Kim prevents Sully from improving his position. Sully taking some punishment here, with Kim in his half guard. Kim scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Kim missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Kim throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Sully to regain full guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kim trying to control the position from guard on top but Sully is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sully has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kim can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Sully keeping full guard, as Kim tries to pass. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kim trying to control the position from guard on top but Sully is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kim has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Sully to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kim is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Sully pulls down on the head and he's put Kim to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jake Sully! Jake Sully decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
