PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Eric Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, William Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wallace as he avoids it easily.
Wallace keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Wallace's corner calls for a 1-2. Wallace obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Wallace misses with a wild combination.
Wallace cracks Martin with a good jab.
Martin has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wallace is looking to clinch.
Wallace misses with a body shot.
Wallace throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Martin.
Wallace tries to clinch but Martin is having none of it.

Wallace wants to clinch up but Martin keeps it at a distance.

Martin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The fight stays on the outside here - Wallace looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Martin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Martin drives through with a takedown into guard.

Martin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wallace looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wallace looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wallace!

It looks like Wallace is going to stand back up.

Martin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wallace's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Martin thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Wallace to regain full guard.
Wallace is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Martin is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin won't allow Wallace to sweep him here.

Wallace looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Wallace wants to sweep but no luck.

Wallace has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Martin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Martin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Martin tries to free his leg and advance position but Wallace is retaining full guard.

Martin with a flurry of punches that miss.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Martin fails to land the takedown.

and Martin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wallace keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Martin is trying to control the action in half guard but Wallace is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Martin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wallace with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wallace stalks Martin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Martin's face. Martin staggers backwards, shaken.

Martin throws a strike but Wallace rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Martin has a closed guard, preventing Wallace from standing up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wallace lands a couple of digs.

Martin looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Wallace puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Wallace is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Wallace is rocked!


It looks like William Wallace has been cut.
Martin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wallace on the ground.
Martin lands a big elbow.
Wallace is still on wobbly legs! Can Martin finish him?

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That has opened up William Wallace's cut even more.

Martin working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Wallace turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Martin off and cradles Wallace's limp body as Martin celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Eric Martin!
