0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alistar Ovareem! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Luke Hernandez! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hernandez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ovareem sees it coming and avoids it easily. Hernandez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ovareem.
Ovareem really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hernandez throws a shot to the body.
Ovareem clinches up against the cage. Ovareem is looking to take this one to the mat. Hernandez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Ovareem misses with a body punch.
Ovareem prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ovareem decides to pull guard. Ovareem will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ovareem throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy. Hernandez trying to control the position from guard on top but Ovareem is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ovareem is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hernandez throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ovareem has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hernandez regains guard immediately. Hernandez managing to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ovareem looking to pass the guard. Ovareem passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ovareem throwing shots but missing, from side control. Ovareem moves into full mount! Ovareem avoids the attempt from Hernandez to control. Ovareem wants to take his opponent's back but Hernandez doesn't allow it. Ovareem thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ovareem landing punches. Hernandez tries to lock up and control but Ovareem gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ovareem can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hernandez is looking to escape. Ovareem has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hernandez is looking to improve his position but Ovareem isn't that keen on the idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ovareem tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hernandez can do anything to dispel that myth. Ovareem has isolated one of Hernandez's arms. Hernandez looking to fight him off but Ovareem twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
