Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerald Hodges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
24 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gee Damn!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damn throws a head kick but Hodges moves out of range.
Damn needs to keep his hands up - Hodges had a free shot at his head there.
Good work by Hodges as he checks the leg kick.
Damn throws a leg kick but Hodges moved away.
Damn sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Damn swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Damn has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hodges is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Damn lands with a light punch inside.
Damn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A slapping body kick lands there for Hodges.
Hodges moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Damn throws a nice outside leg kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Hodges.
Damn tries to close the distance and clinch but Hodges swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Damn with a nice cross.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Damn on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hodges. Hodges obviously looking to wear him down.
Nice body kick there by Hodges.
Damn on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
A jab from Hodges finds it's way through Damn's defenses.
Hodges throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Damn.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hodges.
Hodges throws a head kick that misses.
Hodges looks for the body kick but Damn saw that one coming.
Hodges is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Damn.
Hodges misses with a head kick.
Hodges blocks a low kick nicely.
Damn lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Hodges can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Damn and Hodges drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Damn.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gee Damn!
After winning the bout, Gee Damn thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
