PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Musashimaru Koyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikki Ankka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koyo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is "Tengoku Kara Kaminari" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Musashimaru Koyo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikki Ankka! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ankka tries for a takedown but Koyo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Koyo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Koyo showed some decent athleticism there. Koyo trying to control from Ankka's half guard. Ankka has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Ankka lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Koyo! Ankka throws some wild stikes that Koyo manages to avoid easily.
Ankka throwing strikes but Koyo bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top. Koyo working a defensive guard but Ankka manages to pass into side control anyway.
Ankka wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Koyo, who protects the arm well. Koyo struggling a bit here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Koyo tries to improve position but can't. Koyo manages to get back to half guard. Koyo missing with punches from the bottom.
Koyo really is a fat lump. Koyo controlling the position for now. Ankka lands strikes from half guard. Koyo is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Koyo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ankka's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ankka's back! Ankka wants to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Koyo's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Koyo lands an elbow to the side of the head. Ankka tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Koyo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ankka is looking to escape. Koyo scoring with strikes but Ankka is staying in there. Koyo lands a big elbow. BOOM! Koyo connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Koyo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ankka can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Ankka flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Koyo with good strikes from the mount here! Koyo connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Ankka is rocked! Ankka is in a horrible position here. Koyo smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Ankka is still in real trouble! Can Koyo finish him? Koyo postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Ankka badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Koyo around the waist but Koyo pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Koyo is the winner by TKO! Koyo jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Musashimaru Koyo!
